Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
God’s faithful care for His creation is on display all around us. He feeds the birds of the air, and clothes the lilies of the field. So too, Jesus reminds us, our Heavenly Father knows and meets our needs as well (Matthew 6:31-32).
Are we then excused from planning and preparing for the future? Of course not, for we are made to be faithful and wise stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. But when we make plans apart from the wise counsel of our loving Father, our plans fail (Proverbs 14:22), inviting worry.
Instead, Jesus invites us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. For when we commit to the Lord, He will establish our plans (Proverbs 16:3). And when we present our requests to God with thanksgiving in prayer, His peace, which passes all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6-8).
