1 Samuel 16:18

1 Samuel 16:18

One of the servants answered, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the Lord is with him.”

In 1 Samuel 16:18, Saul’s servant recommends young David to come and play the lyre to help dispel the evil that was tormenting King Saul. It is interesting to note that although the servant does not remember David’s name, he remembers everything about David. He noted David’s bravery, readiness for war, and his prudence in daily communication or interactions with people.

People may not be quick to remember faces and names, but they quickly observe our demeanor, attitude, and character. We are called to be living testimonies of God’s shining glory. Does our viewpoint, disposition, and approach to life show that we are indeed children of light? Can people perceive that Someone Supernatural is with us? Are they affected and maybe even encouraged by our positive, courageous, and hopeful stance in meeting each day? The Lord was with David in his time. And the Lord is with us today. Let’s live in the power and joy of His presence.
