Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

We are all born into sin and, without the mercy and grace of God, we would live and die in sin without hope of spiritual ascension. Such is the pattern of this world in the serpentine design of Satan.

In Romans 12:2, Paul warns us not to conform to this devilish pattern, as while to walk in this world may be God’s design, we need not give in to our baser drives of pleasure and privilege that are embedded in our natural human instincts. It is instead the Christian’s duty to walk a path of righteousness that eschews such passions of the flesh and looks inward to grow closer to God.

Paul explains that to foster this inner transformation requires the renewing of your mind – to find new meanings of our time on Earth, to challenge our preconceived notions that may be twisted by sin, and to continually change how we think so we may gain deeper understandings of God’s will. Have faith, as God will provide you with the goodness and pleasure you need in life. Instead, as you renew your mind consider what ways your life can be crafted to better serve God’s greater good.
