"We love because he first loved us."
The Apostle John tells us that God first loved us, and this is the catalyst of our love for Him. Scripture gives a witness of this concept in Psalm 103:17, “From everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear Him.” God is eternal and His love has no end. Yet hear this and marvel: neither did it have a beginning.
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). This is amazing love indeed. He knew the only way to save His children was to die in our place, to take the penalty for our sin upon Himself. When we come to fully realize this great and mighty love of God, we fall on our knees and rejoice in deep love for Him.
Who is this God who loves so fiercely that He takes upon Himself the curse of the Law? One who loves us magnificently.
