Do everything in love.

The Apostle Paul, writing to the Corinthian church, wanted to make sure they knew to love one another. According to the Lord Jesus, love is the defining element of a true Christian (John 13:35). In four short words, Paul gives the Corinthians a roadmap for their lives. “Do everything in love” is the very essence of Christ’s Second Great Commandment to love your neighbor as yourself.

We are not to do some things in love, or love only when we feel like it. We’re not to love only our friends or those of our own family. We don’t only love when we’re in a good mood, a loving mood, or on a sunny day. No, Paul clearly says do everything in love. Everything. Cooking, cleaning, working, at home, on the road, at work, in the city, on vacation, whatever our hands find to do, we are to do it in love.
